| The Zapotengo bay contains two beaches: The bigger Zapotengo beach and the Playa Pacheco. Zapotengos beach front has a length of 1700 meters. The lagoon “Pacheco” parallel to it completes a spectacular nature paradise. Some of the approximately 30 families living in the Zapotengos area are trying to launch a biosphere reserve. The lagoon is home for thousands of birds, crocodiles and fishes that like it between the mangrove trees. How to get there? Playa Zapotengo you reach by car, taxi or boat. Two approach roads leave
the highway 200 down to the beach. One near kilometre 217 (bridge “Puente
Aguacate”) the other near kilometer 220. Ask the locals for the
right way. If it rains the street down from kilometer 217 could be flooded
by a river. Last update: 23.11.2003 |
