No overnight lodgings are found in the small village of Ventanilla. The name is derived from a hole in one of the offshore rocks which you can see at Ventanillas longbent beach. It seems that you could westerly beach-hike some hundreds of kilometers until you reach the famous Acapulco. Take care when bathing, there are no lifeguards.

The lagoons

This biosphere reserve is run by the 25 families of the village in the form of corporative, called "Servicios Ecoturisticos La Ventanilla". The locals established the water and land park and give guided tours through the crocodile lagoons. Let's have a look at the selfdescription:

"In the mangrove swamp a myriad of species of birds and reptiles live & nest: woodpeckers, kingfishers, diving ducks and a grate diversity of herons, crocodiles, and iguanas, many of which are endangered. In these lagoons, where mangrove trees grow, there is a great production of crustaceans and microorganisms that constitute food for turtles, dolphins, and fish when sea waters joins the lagoons - a phenomenon that occurs in the rainy season."
