The 35.000 souls seaside resort of Puerto Escondido is situated on the Costa Chica, 400 kilometers (on the costal highway) south of famous Acapulco. Landside of the highway 200 you will find the old part of the busy town, seaside is reserved for pleasure on the beach and – surf! Beaches and sea Puerto Escondido is arising along some lovely bays (from east to southwest): Playa Bacocho, Bahia Carrizanrillo, Bahia Puerto Angelito, Playa Manzanilla; in Bahia Principal: Playa Principal and Playa Marinero, southerly Playa Zicatela. With the Zicatela-beach Puerto Escondido can proudly present the mexican "pipeline", a worldwide famous surfers paradise. In august and november international championships take place in the waves of Zicatela. Accommodation Puerto Escondido has a full range of places to stay from basic to expensive. You can stay in cheap palapas or airconditioned hotelrooms. Shopping Beside that the town is an important shopping adress for this part of the Costa Chica. First 24-hours-shops yet opened. From surfer utensilities and stereo equipment to food and clothes you will get everything for the best price around. Food and Drink Sufficiently restaurants and small kitchens are spread out all over the town. Among then a lot of italian restaurants, cafes and ice-cream bars. Most places to eat are down at the Playa Principal or Playa Zicatela and at the Adoquin (Av. Pérez Gasga) and around. Communication All over the town Internet-Cafes offer acess to the information highway. Public telephone and post office are matter of course. How to get there Puerto Escondido can be reached with 1st or 2nd-class buses, by airplane or car.
